Membership

All colleges and universities offering an accredited OT or OTA program within the state are welcome to join the Georgia Consortium for Fieldwork Education.

Membership Activities

Members of the Georgia Consortium for Fieldwork Educators engage in a variety of activities to address Fieldwork challenges, analyze current trends, and develop a repository of resources for Fieldwork Education.

The goal of all Consortium activities is to improve the quality of fieldwork education for OT and OTA students throughout the state. Academic Fieldwork Coordinators, Program Coordinators, Fieldwork Educators, and other invested individuals work together to address challenges, promote improvements, and ultimately enhance the student experience.

The Consortium's activities are divided into 3 major categories - Mentorship, Continuing Education, and Resource Development.

Mentorship

The Georgia Fieldwork Consortium aims to provide guidance to Academic Fieldwork Coordinators and Fieldwork Educators through discussion, shared resources, and one-on-one relationships. In particular, new Fieldwork Coordinators and fieldwork Educators can benefit from the wealth of experience offered by many current consortium members.

Continuing Education

The consortium is committed to contributing to the continuing education of all fieldwork educators through both free and paid offerings. For example, the consortium may collaborate to:

  • Offer AOTA Approved Continuing Education courses, such as Brenau's annual AOTA Fieldwork Educator Workshop

  • Present at educational and professional conferences

  • Educate others on ACOTE standards for Fieldwork Education

  • Engage in scholarship and research that promotes the development of quality Fieldwork Education

Resource Development

The Georgia Consortium for Fieldwork Education strives to be a rich repository of resources for Fieldwork Educators and Academic Fieldwork Coordinators. Consortium members contribute by:

  • Creating program-specific resources and sharing with the consortium

  • Housing a variety of AOTA and GOTA resources for easy access by Fieldwork Educators and Academic Fieldwork Coordinators on the Consortium's web page

  • Analyze current Fieldwork challenges and propose potential solutions

  • Engaging in discussion of current resources and how they can be utilized or improved
